:>> SHP51: Northwest Loop Adventure 7 Days/6 Nights

The beauty of Northwest Vietnam and its unspoiled nature could be thought of as a paradox, since its continuing existence depends on how we handle the future of tourism in this country. However, the advent of responsible tourism might go some way to ensuring respect for the people and protection of these well-established cultures.

Day 1: Ha Noi - Mai Chau
After breakfast at the hotel, we start our journey Hoa Binh province. We'll pass through a region of spectacular limestone mountains and tea plantations to arrive in Mai Chau. Lunch will be served with some specialties here, at a local restaurant of ethnic family owner. After that, we start our short trek to visit Lac Village, and higher challenge to Puong Coong village. We spend the night in a village long house of the White Thai minority, experiencing their wonderful hospitality, traditional dancing and rice wine.
Accommodation: Overnight as Home Stay
Meals: Lunch and dinner

Day 2: Mai Chau - Son La
The road to Son La is lined with fruit orchards, tea plantations, towering mountains and the traffic of Black Thai, Mea, Muong and White Thai hill tribe people heading to markets. We visit the Prison Museum, which remains as a poignant reminder of the inequities of the former French colonial rule.
Accommodation: Overnight at Son La Union Hotel or Sun Rise hotel
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner

Day 3: Son La - Dien Bien Phu
After breakfast, we drive to Dien Bien Phu city with some stops on the way to take photos. Check in the hotel, lunch at local restaurant and in the afternoon, we'll visit Dien Bien battle field, A1 Hill, Him Lam Hill, Monuments, museum, war relics and the preserved bunkers all telling the story of the final and victorious liberating battle of 1954
Accommodation: Overnight at Muong Thanh hotel in Dien Bien
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner

Day 4: Dien Bien Phu - Lai Chau - Sin Ho
After breakfast, we leave Dien Bien for Sin Ho which is a scenic village nestled in the mountains of Lai Chau Province and worth visiting, particularly for those who want to discover stunning scenery and cultural diversity of ethnic groups. Traveling to Sin Ho from Dien Bien Phu City offers a lot of rewards, which include the old bridge Hang Tom spanning the mighty Da River and the beautiful landscapes along the road of nearly 160km from the northern city. Especially, the 38km trip from the Chan Nua T-junction up to the elevation of over 1,000m where Sin Ho is situated is not for travelers with a weak heart. There is a colorful market on Sunday, when Red Mong, Dao and other ethnic peoples gather there for their buying and selling. The items on sale at the market range from life’s necessities such as clothes and scarves to farm produce like banana, vegetables and fruits. Ethnic women bring jewelry, including necklaces and brace laces, to the market for sale to tourists. Departing Sin Ho about 3km comes a pretty quiet village surrounded by a stunning backdrop of mountains and hills. There, boys sit on the back of their buffaloes going around; children play games and women weave tho cam (ethnic fabric) handicrafts in front of their homes besides leafless pear trees in a winter afternoon.
Accommodation: Overnight at hotel in Sin Ho
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner

Day 5: Sin Ho - Sapa
As we traverse Tram Ton Pass, the highest mountain pass in Viet Nam, we are afforded magnificent views and experience a dramatic change of climate as we approach the old French Hill Station of Sa Pa. A busy market town for the regions minority groups, the town is encircled with towering peaks, often shrouded in cloud, and the air is cool and crisp.
Accommodation: Overnight at Victoria hotel in Sapa
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner

Day 6: Sapa trekking
Trekking to the H'mong and Red Dao villages of Ta Phin hamlet, we are introduced to a different way of life as we enjoy the genuine hospitality of these hill tribe people. A truly satisfying day filled with insight and the unspoilt beauty of nature.
Accommodation: Overnight at Victoria hotel in Sapa
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner

Day 7: Sa Pa - Bac Ha - Ha Noi
Departing in the early morning, we drive to Bac Ha. Here, hill tribe people from far and wide make the weekly journey to trade goods at the busy Sunday market, their heavily embroidered clothing and distinctive headdress adding color and vibrancy. Leaving the activity behind, we descend the scenic mountain roads and return to Ha Noi.
Accommodation: Overnight at Hoa Binh Palace hotel in Hanoi
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
