Cambodia - When to go?
The climate of Cambodia is split into two distinct halves by the movement of the monsoon winds across Indochina. The northeasterly monsoon brings dry weather and heats the country up from November until April when it is succeeded by a southwesterly wind carrying rain and humidity. This weather pattern doesn't prevent Cambodia from being a year-round tourist destination as, even during the wettest months of August and September, the rain falls in short bursts and the countryside is at its most colourful. Likewise during the hot, dry months you'll always find a cooling breeze on the coasts and the roads are in their best condition. November, December and January are the most popular months with visitors as the weather is generally dry and warm and the humidity level at its lowest. This is also the time of year to see the best of Cambodia's festivals. Through spring the temperature increases to an uncomfortable peak at the end of April when the dry season finally cracks to be succeeded by the rain. Phnom Penh The Cambodian capital is hot and sunny throughout the year, with daytime temperatures never straying far from 32°C. The wettest weather arrives in September and October.
